Our History

Founded in 1975, the inception, growth and development of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism (FEBT)  has been driven by the need to provide business and economics education in the Adriatic region of the Republic of Croatia. Since its inception, FEBT has strived to create a scientific think-tank and a place of continuous innovations in the dissemination of knowledge.

The Faculty boasts a large community of 126 employees, 89 of which are faculty and researchers. Creating a favourable environment for recruiting and developing young researchers is one of the Faculty’s key priorities.

Completion of the new building in 2002, followed by the Annex in 2006, created the preconditions for extending the range of activities at the Faculty and programs offered. The building covers an area of 11,000 m2 with 18 lecture theatres and rooms, 4 meeting rooms and 4 computer labs. The Library of the Faculty is ranked second in Croatia by the amount of titles on economics and business. It has over 30,000 monographic publications.

Special attention is given to the students. The conditions in which all student activities including teaching and non-teaching (student choir, student association for international exchange of AIESEC, cultural, entertainment and sports) are constantly encouraged. Today, about 2.600 students are studying at the Faculty.

Times Higher Education developed this type of evaluation because it sees universities as a major driving force in society, institutions that can change society for the better, generate opportunities in their environment, reduce economic inequality, raise environmental awareness and educate the public on the importance of enduring effort on achieving sustainable development.

The University of Split achieved the best results for UN’s Goals: 16 - Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities, 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth and 9 - Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
