The inception, growth and development of this Faculty is marked by the need to educate experts in Adriatic region which is geographically and economically very important for the overall  development of Republic of of Croatia. Since the inception, the goal was to create the scientific think-tank and the place of continous innovations in the dissemination of knowledge. Since its inception, the Faculty has educated many generations of students, many of whom are well-known and distinguished experts and businessman today. Today about 3,000 students are studying at the Faculty.

The Faculty represents a significant HEI employing 126 employees out of which 89 are involved in the teaching and research processs. The development of young researchers is one of the priority issues for the Faculty.

By the completion of the the new building in 2002, and subsequent Annex in 2006, the preconditions for creating a wide range of activities that the Faculty develops today are created. The building of the Faculty covers an area of ​​11,000 m2 with 2155 seats divided into 18 halls, 4 halls, 4 computer labs. The Library of the Faculty is ranked second in Croatia by the size and the first in the region. It has over 30,000 monographic publications.

Special attention is given to the students. The conditions in which all student activities including teaching and non-teaching (student choir, student association for international exchange of AIESEC, cultural, entertainment and sports) are constantly encouraged.
