I am Fidan from Azerbaijan and I’m still doing my Erasmus in Split despite that annoying coronavirus. I study in ADA University in Baku the capital city (I also live there) and my major in Business Administration in my home university, but here I study in Faculty of Economics. The city I am living is quite modern and historical. I mostly love the food and people in my country because they are SO friendly!
When I came to Split for my exchange, everybody said it might be a bit hard to stay away from your country and family, but honestly I did not have such problem even during the quarantine. My first days, let’s say first 2 weeks were so much fun, I loved the city (sun, many beaches, nature who would not love this city), people and everything about this city! I felt like home honestly. I got SO many good friends from Erasmus and we were hanging out almost every day in first 2 weeks. It is even hard to describe how much fun we had! We were only able to go to Marjan, Krka but we had many plans about traveling every part of the Split, and all beautiful places Croatia has. Then quarantine started of course. Some internationals left, but many of them (all of my friends) stayed. I consider those who stayed as heroes because we were brave enough to stay even though we did not know if it will be over or not. During the quarantine of course there was some time that I became depressed since I was living alone for almost a month. Almost every day I was getting emails from university staff here, my friends here and of course family and friends from home about how I am doing, how is everything, and that made me feel like home more.
We never regretted that we stayed here and now we are so happy! We are looking forward to travel and see all beautiful places here!
