Small business management

The economy of the Republic of Croatia, as well as the EU, is characterized by a high share of small and medium-sized enterprises (99%) in the overall economic structure. The undergraduate professional programme Small Enterprise Management encompasses contemporary economic knowledge and the acquisition of valuable professional knowledge, skills and abilities to take on managerial responsibilities in the world of small business and entrepreneurship. This programme allows students to specialize in a given area with respect to the preferences of their personal development (concentrations: Management, Marketing, and Finance). According to the chosen concentration, students attain wider knowledge as well as numerous competences which enhance their employability.

In order to contribute to the competitiveness of small businesses in a responsible way, professionals with specific knowledge, skills and abilities will be needed to successfully deal with a number of developmental challenges. Precisely, the profile of professionals enrolled in this programme is that they are able to lead and manage small businesses and contribute to the development of the economy as a whole.

  • passed state matura exam (high school leaving state exams)
    • Croatian Language - basic level
      or Native language for EU citizens
    • English language - basic level
      if english is native language than first foreign language will be taken into account

Management

  • Classify management skills and the ability to apply them to a small enterprise
  • Analyse the financial indicators of the business of a small enterprise and create a financial plan
  • Analyse the critical factors in the development of new products

Marketing

  • Review concepts and knowledge about consumer / customer / user behaviour
  • Design a market research project for a profit / non-profit / public organisation
  • Analyse the implementation of specific marketing activities on the market

Finance

  • Differentiate methods for the analysis of financial reports and an investment analysis
  • Differentiate the services of financial institutions, the functions of financial markets and types of tax
Future studies:

By completing the undergraduate professional study program, a student can continue studies at graduate professional programme or other graduate programmes at this or other faculty or university at home or abroad, with possible obilgaition to enroll in additional courses arising from the specifics of the different programs as prescribed by the university or faculty acts.
